Recycle Polyester

All the recycling rage now is turning plastic bottles into polyester clothing. This is a very energy-intensive process, but requires fewer chemicals than in bamboo or soy fabric production. Polyester is very beneficial in some applications like swimwear, and keeping all that non-biodegradable plastic out of our oceans and landfills is a very good thing.

PFC-Free W/R

PFCs are a non-natural substance, meaning they don’t break down (are persistent) in the environment.

 

That persistence leads to a build-up (bioaccumulation) of PFCs in the food web. Scientists have found traces of PFCs in air, water, remote ice caps, plants, wildlife and even in human beings.

 

Early studies have already shown they are harmful to living organisms, but there is still a lot to learn. Research is still being done on how PFCs get into the environment. Top theories include manufacturing, washing & waste.

Bamboo

Bamboo fiber is a regenerated fiber and has some special properties. It is softer and more absorbent than cotton, biologically degradable and anti-bacterial. Bamboo is a quick growing tree, which also helps reduce carbon dioxide gases and can help restore degraded lands.

Wool

Wool can easily absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp or clammy. It wicks moisture away from the body, keeping you warm without feeling wet.

 

Wool functions as a temperature regulator, protecting the body in both cold and warm conditions. To a certain degree, wool is considered water repellent. Light rain, snow, and small spills will stay on the surface or run off the fabric.
